    Thiago Moura

    Software Stuff Engineer

Hi! I'm Thiago Moura. I'm a software engineer based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Most of my recent work has been related to platform engineering, product thinking, and practical AI.

    Latest professional experiences

Over the last few years, I've worked on Cloud-native applications, product-critical platform capabilities, and internal AI tools meant to support engineering and product teams in their work. Some highlights include:

    • Wrote Kubernetes operators and tooling to streamline development and operations workflows.
    • Deployed and maintained Istio Service Mesh in production for a large retail environment, where operational clarity and resilience mattered.
    • Worked on a custom API gateway built on top of Envoy Gateway, with an extensibility model that allowed users to write their own plugins in Java without fighting the platform.
    • Led the design and implementation of an authorization server (on top of Keycloak) tailored to the emerging Chilean Open Finance ecosystem.
    • Built an internal AI tool to help engineering teams understand how errors propagated through a complex microservices architecture.
    • Built an internal AI tool to help product managers keep up with the evolution of Brazilian Open Finance regulation and understand its impact on the product roadmap.

    How I work | Tenets

    • Critical thinking: always question assumptions and seek evidence.
    • There is no silver bullet, and there is no free lunch. Fundamentals still rule, even in the AI era.
    • Optimize when it matters. Not before, not after.
    • Prevent accidental (or intentional) complexity. Simplicity pays off.
    • Be an enabler: understand the product, stay empathetic, and help others move.
    • Get close to the customer's pain points and fix them as they were your own.
    • Abstract repetition and remove friction where it meaningfully improves the work.
